Passport & Visas

All visitors to Jordan are required to have a visa. If you are a citizen of the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the EU, or South Africa, you may acquire a single-entry visa upon your arrival in Jordan for 40 JOD. The Jordan Pass is an excellent choice for travelers, which includes a visa fee waiver and covers the entrance fees for more than 40 touristic sites including Petra. If you purchase the Jordan Explorer package, you can visit Petra more than once.

Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival in Jordan, and you should carry your passport or travel document with you at all times.

When to Go

The best time to visit Jordan is in spring when the summer heat is way ahead and the landscapes are breathing life with the changing season. Temperatures are between 20 and 30°C, and the weather is clean of desert sand after the winter rains. Visit Jordan from March to June for the ultimate photographic experience. It is also a wonderful time for the country’s heart-stopping adventure activities like camel rides in the desert of Wadi Rum. Keep in mind that spring is the busiest season in Jordan, but tackling the crowds is easy in the touristic hotspots.

If it is the combination of perfect weather and few crowds that you seek, fall is the best time to visit Jordan. It is the shoulder season when the summer crowds are largely dispersed. The best places to visit in Jordan see some peace and quiet, and so will you if you come from September to November. Temperatures stay at comfortable degrees until December. 

Fall is one of the best times to enjoy long hours of sightseeing in Jordan’s urban wonders like Amman and Ajloun. You will also get to make deeper connections with the local culture without the tourist fuss. The Dead Sea is a memorable destination at this time of year, offering boundless relaxation with its 24°C-warm waters.
